<p>This article examines the integration of cognitively oriented approaches into interrogation tactics, with a focus on the linguistic aspects of the statements obtained. The study is motivated by the need to enhance the completeness and accuracy of verbal information elicited during investigative procedures, as well as the search for tactical techniques capable of overcoming the inherent limitations of human memory in witnesses and victims. Drawing on forensic literature and research in the psychology of memory, the article explores the "cognitive interview" method—developed by R. Fisher and E. Geiselman—which is based on the principle that recall is most effective when the conditions of retrieval match the conditions under which the information was originally encoded. Key techniques of the cognitive interview are systematized, including the mental and verbal reconstruction of an event and its context, the elicitation of details, recalling circumstances in varying sequences, and shifting perspectives. Particular attention is paid to the linguistic dimensions of these techniques. It is demonstrated that altering the chronological order of an account imposes an increased cognitive load on the interviewee; this makes the construction of a fabricated narrative more difficult and allows for the detection of signs of insincerity, such as a slower speech rate, reduced detail, and the simplification of syntactic structures. The technique of shifting perspectives—describing an event from the viewpoint of another participant—is also discussed; this process facilitates the retrieval of additional memory traces while simultaneously serving as a tool for verifying the testimony. The article underscores the necessity of training investigators to apply these cognitively oriented techniques, while accounting for the individual characteristics of the interviewee, as well as limitations related to age, cultural context, and psychological state. It is concluded that integrating a cognitive approach into interrogation tactics is a promising strategy for increasing both the completeness and the reliability of the statements obtained.</p>
<kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>cognitive interview</kwd><kwd>interrogation tactic</kwd><kwd>linguistic analysis of statements</kwd><kwd>altering chronology</kwd><kwd>changing perspective</kwd><kwd>witness memory</kwd><kwd>verification of statements</kwd><kwd>cognitive load</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>credibility of statements</kwd><kwd>linguistic markers of insincerity</kwd><kwd>psycholinguistics</kwd><kwd>verbal insincerity</kwd><kwd>high-tech deception</kwd><kwd>investigative practice</kwd><kwd>interrogation tactics</kwd><kwd>linguistic forensic analysis</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><ref id="ref1"><mixed-citation publication-type="other" xml:lang="ru">[1] Уголовно-процессуальный кодекс Российской Федерации от 18.12.2001 № 174-ФЗ (ред. — 2001. — № 52 (ч.
